Concrete and Beer
An urban trip this time, a concrete jungle full of
Badgers. Amy got me an amazing Christmas gift that included UW-Madison
Hockey tickets and a tour of the Capitol Brewing Co. We got into town in
the late afternoon and then caught the hotel shuttle over to the game.
Fast and Physical. The arena wasn't too far of a walk back but the air
was cold enough for use to get new hats for the journey. We wandered and
bar hoped along State Street and stopped at "Northwoods" bar with car
siding and a well stoked fireplace.
The brewing tour ended in the sample room, with tokens in
hand we shared our way through the taps. The E-Flame was a standout. A
habanero Porter that is seldom brewed. It was the perfect winter warmer.
We laughed about hitting a hole in the wall joint for breakfast, their Sunday
special was "Smut and Eggs"...but in the end we settled for a more
traditional meal.
